Arriving on the back of punk rock and a gymnastic performance on The Old Grey Whistle Test, his first single, the half-spoken love song "Really Free" soared to number 27 in the UK Singles Chart. John is a self-confessed unsuccessful singer-songwriter, who built a large cult audience through unrelenting touring, a surreal sense of humour and a winning underdog personality.

Sound of the Blues BrothersSounds of the Blues Brothers. 7pm - Midnight

Established in 1987, they were the first tribute band to take the movie onto the stage and have since become the leading Blues Brothers show throughout Europe.

They apeared on Noel Edmonds House Party going out to 17 million viewers. In April 2004 the band appeared live on Ant & Dec’s TV Takeaway, backing Ant & Dec performing the classic "Everybody".

A.W.O.L. (support)
A.W.O.L. is a four-piece band based in Maryport. They formed in 2002 and have been playing gigs round the county since then. They supported the Animals at our 2006 festival after winning a local 'Battle of the Bands' competition. The band’s proudest moment occurred when AC/DC singer Brian Johnson saw one of its gigs and said they were “awesome.” A.W.O.L. whose set consists of covers and originals, has released one album, A Way Of Life.
